Matthew Jones is the founder and president of Dragon’s Euphoria and the Santa Barbara branch of the International Institute of Medical Qigong.  He did this with the desire to create a place where people could get affordable massage therapy and acupuncture treatments in the same clinic. 

He has been studying and instructing holistic medicine for over twelve years.  He began his massage therapy training at the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute (SBBTI) in 1995 and continued his studies there until he completed their highest level of certification, the 1000 hour Holistic Health Practitioner program.  During his education at SBBTI he began his training in Qigong and Taijiquan (Tai Chi).  In addition, he began assisting massage therapy classes and teaching Tai Chi at SBBTI in 1996.  Now, he is one of the main instructors for SBBTI, teaching classes on Lymphatic Drainage, Polarity Therapy, Anatomy and Physiology, and Medical Qigong.

His passion for the healing and energetic arts has led him to study with some of the top masters of their respective fields.  He currently works with and studies under Master Herbalist from Beijing Henry Han, OMD (co-author of “Ancient Herbs, Modern Medicine” and “Healing Ourselves, Healing the Planet”).  He was the clinical manager of Dr. Han’s extensive Chinese herbal pharmacy for over three years where he made herbal prescriptions, studied the finer points of Chinese Medicine, and performed herbal, massage, cupping, moxibustion, and acupuncture treatments.  He continues to study under Dr. Han and now collaborates with him on the treatment of ailments from anxiety to cancer.

Matthew also studied with international acclaimed Qigong Grandmaster Jerry Alan Johnson, DMQ, DTCM (author of “Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy”, and many other titles).  He completed his Master of Medical Qigong training directly under Dr. Johnson and continues to study Qigong and Baguazhang (Bagua) with one of his top students, Sifu Matthew B Weston, MMQ.  In addition to the Masters program he completed a Chinese Medical Qigong Oncology program with Dr. Johnson in Houston, Texas. He will also be assisting Dr. Johnson in teaching his Chinese Medical Qigong Oncology specialty in the Five Branches Institute’s Doctoral of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program in 2008.

Over the years Matthew has gained many certifications including: his Master/Teacher level in Reiki; Cranio-Sacral II from the Upledger Institute; Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga from Master Choa Kok Sui; and Chi Nei Tsang from Giles Marin.  He also trained with many other high level masters including: Master Alex Dong, Master Zhou Ting Jue, Grand Master Jiang Hao Chuan, and many others.  He continues to co-host workshops with Master Alex Dong in Santa Barbara every year. As a practitioner and teacher of holistic and energetic medicine he knows that his studies will be a lifelong passion.
